Welcome to Marlborough, Wiltshire

England has no shortage of attractive market towns, but few have the vibrancy of Marlborough. Set in a north eastern corner of Wiltshire, Marlborough's rich history is manifestly visible in its mixture of striking architecture and yet the experience of coming here is thoroughly contemporary. Marlborough is a good-looking town, it's wide High Street, the second widest in England, provides a striking vista northwards to the spire of St. Peter's Church and the Vale of Pewsey and beyond.

Where other market towns have fossilised into affluent retirement communities where one might stop for a coffee but not much else, Marlborough is very much a going concern. With its mix of over 200 independent and chain retailers, the town has a young, modern vibe which make it a place people very much like to be. It has shopping, eating and drinking enough for the most demanding visitor and with the number of young families on the street, it's also clearly a place people like to live.

Home to one of the country's leading independent schools as well as several highly rated state schools, there is a youthfulness about Marlborough which gives it an edge not often found in English country towns. There is a faint urban whiff emanating from the shops and bars and a patina of sophistication not often found outside major cities.

Set smack in the middle of the North Wessex Downs Area of Natural Beauty and within striking distances of the magnificent Savernake Forest as well as the World Heritage site at Avebury, Marlborough is a magnet for visitors and this is reflected in the quality of its accommodation and restaurants. A superior destination if you will. Come and see for yourself. You will not be disappointed.
