Less than an hour’s drive west from Marlborough though the beautiful Wiltshire countryside, is the historic village of Lacock and at its heart, the quirky Lacock Abbey set in its own woodland grounds. Laycok Abbey facebook 01Built on the footprint of an ancient nunnery the current manor house is of various architectural styles. Now run by the National Trust the Abby’s monastic past can be experienced within its medieval rooms and cloister court.

Lacock Village is famed internationally as the birth place of photography and as testament the Fox Talbot museum celebrates the achievements of former Lacock resident, William Henry Fox Talbot, renowned for his contributions to the invention of photography.
