Most golfers don't need an excuse, but here's eighteen glorious holes for you and a group of friends in aid of a very worthy cause:

Swift Medics are highly trained, volunteer emergency care doctors who attend road traffic accidents and medical emergencies across Wiltshire. On an average week they will save either one life, or prevent life-changing injuries and all with NO GOVERNMENT FUNDING - they rely entirely on voluntary donations.upavon golf course Chief among their fund-raising champions is Bob Holden of Marlborough's Food Gallery Cafe who organises their hugely successful Golf Day and Auction.

This year's event takes place at Upavon Golf Course on Tuesday, 30th May at 11am. The day features trick-shot legend, Jeremy Dale who will be giving a 40 minute trick-shot show as well as organising an on-course trick shot challenge. Among the other competitions on the day, you could try your hand at the straightest drive, the longest drive and three nearest the pin. The cost of this great Charity Golf Day is only £160 for a group of four (£40 per head) and includes bacon sandwiches, tea, coffee and lunch.

Among the terrific prizes that money can't buy, the auction will include:

A day's fishing for two on the River Monnow

A day with leading racehorse trainer Brian Meehan

An evening of Astronomy including a visit to the beautiful Blackett Observatory in Marlborough College.

A day with New Zealand show jumper Tim Price

Four-ball with Jeremy Dale at Heythrop Park

A case of fine wine and an evening of wine tasting with organic wine producers Mischief and Mayhem
