Cricket broadcasting legend Henry Blofeld, the voice of Test Match Special, has finally retired after a career spanning decades. On Monday November 6th Blowers will be making a personal appearance at the award-winning White Horse Bookshop at 12pm to sign copies of his memoir, Over and Out and there are likely to be queues along Marlborough High Street.

Described variously as ‘a national treasure’ and ‘the voice of summer’, few sports commentators have commanded the loyalty and respect of fans like Blofeld. Aficionados of Test Match Special will know that he was a pretty sharp batsman in his day, playing cricket for Eton against Harrow at Lords when he was fifteen, followed up a year later by slogging a century for the Public Schools team on the same hallowed ground. It has been a life full of incident and anecdote so hats off to White Horse Bookshop for scoring another coup for the town.
